Getting Started

I need insurance. What do I do?
  1. Send your information

Fill out the intake form or contact form with as much detail as possible.

  2. Rachel reviews your options

She prepares an initial quote and checks whether anything else needs to be researched.

  3. Talk through the details

If a phone conversation is needed, schedule an appointment or ask Rachel to call you.

  4. Choose with confidence

Meet in person, by phone, or through Google Meet to review the pros and cons before making a decision.

Do I have to pay for your services?
No. RMH Insurance is a free service for clients. Rachel is compensated by the insurance companies she works with.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bringing information about your current coverage, prescriptions, preferred doctors, household, income, and any questions you have can help Rachel provide the most accurate guidance.

Under 65 Coverage

When can I enroll for insurance if I'm under 65 years old?

Marketplace Open Enrollment runs each year from November 1 through January 15. If you enroll by December 15, coverage can start January 1.

After January 15, you usually need a Special Enrollment Period before you can enroll in or change Marketplace coverage.

What are common Special Enrollment Period qualifications?

Common qualifying life events include household, coverage, or address changes. Examples include:

  • Getting married or divorced
  • Moving to a new county
  • Losing other coverage
  • Having or adopting a baby
  • Being denied Medicaid or CHIP after applying

HealthCare.gov has more details on Special Enrollment Periods.

Are ACA, Marketplace, and Obamacare the same thing?
Yes. People often use ACA, Marketplace, and Obamacare to describe major medical coverage offered through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
What if I don't want a Marketplace policy?
Major medical plans are largely handled through the Marketplace now. Some plans may also be offered directly through a carrier, but the plan and coverage details are often the same. Rachel can help you compare what is available and explain the tradeoffs.

Plans and Carriers

What types of insurance do you offer?
  • Under 65 ACA, Marketplace, and Obamacare plans
  • Traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage guidance
  • Supplemental policies such as accident, hospital, critical illness, and cancer, heart, and stroke coverage
  • Travel health insurance
What carriers do you contract with?

For 2026 under-65 medical coverage, Rachel is contracted with the available carriers in her market, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Ambetter, Cigna, AmeriHealth, United, and Oscar.

For Medicare, contracted carriers include Blue Cross Blue Shield, WellSpring, United, Humana, Devoted, Health Team Advantage, and Alignment.

This is not an exhaustive list, but it covers the carriers most clients ask about.

How do I know which plan is right for me?
Every person's needs are different. Rachel takes the time to learn about your health, medications, doctors, budget, and priorities before helping you compare available options.

Ongoing Support

Can you help me review my current coverage?
